THE FORECAST OF THE CLAYEY SOIL DEFORMATIONS OF SWELLING AT THE FOUNDATIONS OF STRUCTURES

The present report offers a technique to forecast the dynamics of deformation of clayey soils swelling at the foundations of structures. The calculation technique proposed is based on the regularities of the rheology of clayey soils swelling which have been established experimentally and interpreted by the theory of linear herediatry creep. The formula has been obtained to make it possible to forecast the process of the rise of rectangular, belt-type and square foundations as well as the period of stabilization of the said process. The engineering practicability of the technique proposed is proved by the solution of some typical numerical examples. (Author/TRRL)
