This precast prestressed concrete I-girder bridge functions as a grade separation structure and provides access for local traffic in the vicinity of the Bangor Submarine Base on the Kitsap Peninsula in the State of Washington. The bridge has two continuous spans (see diagram showing plan and elevation) with lengths of 138 and 114 ft (42.1 and 34.8 m). The girder composite section is considered continuous for live load and dead load of traffic barrier only. The required concrete strength at 28 days was 7000 psi (48.3 MPa). The required concrete strength at release was 6000 psi (41.4 MPa). The intermediate pier was designed with a semi-dropped crossbeam to eliminate the need for falsework piles to support the precast girders.
