HAWAII'S STATUTE ON CLAIMS AGAINST LICENSED ENGINEERS, SURVEYORS, AND ARCHITECTS

During 1981, Hawaii enacted a statute related to claims against design professionals. While it does not establish a means to resolve construction contract disputes, it does establish a design professional conciliation panel to hear related claims against licensed engineers, surveyors, and architects. Because this measure was enacted less than one year ago, and as the panel is not yet duly constituted and able to conduct hearings, the effect of this legislation cannot presently be appraised. (See Hawaii statutes; Remedies, Defenses, Proceedings; Design Professional Conciliation Panel; ch. 672, SS 1-13.) (Author)
