The goal of the North Central Project (NCP) is to develop an effective, feasible, and affordable highway and rail transit improvement program in the Corridor between the Dallas Central Business District (CBD) and the Lyndon B. Johnson (LBJ) Freeway. Towards this end, the Project is developing a broad range of multimodal improvement programs with special emhases on minimizing community and environmental impacts while providing increased capacity in a safe, cost-effective manner. The NCP is designed to review and refine a large number of alternative highway and rail transit solutions into the three to five most promising options over a 12 month period. This Milestone No. 1 Report is a brief summary of material developed during the first two months of the 12 month North Central Project schedule. The Report focuses on the background analyses required to develop alternative solution concepts for highway and rail transit improvements in the North Central Corridor. (Author)
