THE INFLUENCE OF THE TESTCYCLE ON PASSENGER CAR NO-X CONTROL

The present emission testcycle was developed to control the emission of carbon monoxide (co). It simulates those traffic conditions where CO emission is most serious, i.e. dense congested inner city traffic. The emission of oxides of nitrogen is not primarily a problem under those conditions. Its effective control will therefore require a test that is based on completely different traffic conditions, i.e. primarily motorway traffic. (TRRL)
