HEADLIGHT ADJUSTMENT: THE PRESENT SITUATION

KOPLIGVERSTELLING: DIE HUIDIGE TOESTAND

Two types of dipped headlight beam pattern are in use in South Africa at present: the "European" type (72% of all vehicles) and the "Anglo-American" type (28% of vehicles). This report briefly describes surveys of headlamp glare, adjustment, and the effect of loading on adjustment. It is recommended that only the European type of headlight should be allowed, and that regulations concerning adjustment should be changed. (TRRL)
