1978 OREGON TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS. FOCUS ON: TRUCKS
Truck traffic accident statistics for 1978 are compiled separately for: the state of Oregon, Oregon rural areas, Oregon cities and urban areas except Portland, Portland, and Oregon cities except Portland. Tables provide data on accident type; fatalities; location; age of casualty; directional analysis (for two-vehicle, pedestrian and other accidents); pedestrian actions by age; driver age, sex, and residence; contributing circumstances; road surface and light conditions; vehicle type; and type of two-vehicle accident. Truck driver error data are tabulated, as well as data on other contributing circumstances (driver, pedestrian, vehicle, miscellaneous). The number of individual errors, their percentage of the total errors, and the percentage of drivers responsible by age group are given. The errors are categorized under turning maneuvers, improper maneuvers, disregarding signs and/or signals, right-of-way error, passing maneuvers, miscellaneous actions, and basic rule error.
