SUMMARY REPORT ON MOTOR VEHICLE EMISSIONS INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE PROGRAM FOR NON-ATTAINMENT AREAS IN LOUISIANA. FINAL REPORT

General information is provided on motor vehicle inspection and maintenance (I/M) with respect to the metropolitan areas of New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Shreveport, Louisiana. A background discussion of events leading to the need for an I/M program is provided, including the legislative authority. A general description of I/M includes the types of programs, objectives and benefits of I/M, failure rate and expected repair costs, and information on implementation activities, as well as an implementation schedule. Expected hydrocarbon emission reductions are included.
