GROUND AND AIR SURVEY FOR FIELD SCIENTISTS. MONOGRAPHS ON SOIL AND RESOURCES SURVEY

The first part of this book deals with simple field surveying. The author describes spirit levelling, planetabling and ground photographic methods and briefly covers some special survey cases including cave and tunnel surveys. Part II deals with more advanced field survey beginning with a description of how to mark out the survey on the ground so that points will remain as permanent markers, followed by instructions on how to use a theodolite and an electromagnetic distance measurement (edm). Part III covers surveying from air photographs including the use of stereoscopes and stereoscopic images and the preparation of maps from aerial photographs. In part IV the use and production of maps is described. (Author/TRRL)
