TRAFFIC MARKINGS: GOVERNMENT STANDARDS

RAZMETKA DOROZHNAIA: GOSUDARSTVENNYI KOMITET STANDARTOV

This standard applies to the markings an all streets, both those under construction and those in operation, independently of their ministerial jurisdiction, and establishes the form, dimensions, color, and conditions for applying the markings. The standard complies with the 1968 Convention on Road Signs and Signals, as well as with the 1973 minutes of the European Agreement on Road Markings which was added to it. The four main chapters are concerned with the marking specifications; the application conditions for horizontal markings, such as longitudinal and transverse markings, islands, inscriptions for populated areas, routes, movements; application conditions for horizontal markings, such as vertical surfaces of piers on bridges, overpasses and underpasses, paved surfaces of tunnel portals, etc.; and finally technical requirements, such as the stipulation that markings be made with paints, thermoplastics, or other materials in accordance with the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The figures include indication of markings on bridges, roadsides, technical specifications for script layout, interconnecting highways, highway lane markings etc.
