TRAFFIC ANALYSIS OF PRT GRADECROSSED INTERSECTION

A gradecrossed intersection of the personal rapid transit system (PRT), which is one of the automated guideway transit systems, is modeled. Its control algorithm which assigns moving cells to avoid vehicle collision at intersection part or the merging part is presented. The model is formulated as a finite Markov chain (one-dimensional) random walk). As a result, the relation between vehicle traffic density and (1) delay distribution and expected delay time due to intersection passing, (2) abort rate, and (3) throughput, is obtained explicitly.
