Use of higher fuel pressures and faster rates of injection have allowed CAT engineers to develop a new generation truck diesel that highlights the industry trend toward more fuel efficient heavy-duty engines. The primary objective of the development program was to provide continued improvement in fuel economy, and to meet both current and future gaseous and noise emission levels. Data are presented to show the large increase Caterpillar (CAT) achieved in fuel injection pressure.
