PROCTOR DATA AND CBR ESTIMATES BASED ON STATISTICAL DATA FROM THE CENTRAL AREA OF SPAIN

ESTIMACION DE DATOS PROCTOR E INDICE CBR BASADOS EN DATOS ESTADISTICOS DE LA ZONA CENTRO

This article includes the first part of a statistical study on the estimation of the optimum Proctor conditions for compaction and the CBR value as well as a statistical analysis of the sand equivalent. The study is based on the data obtained from more than 3000 samples tested at CEAT in Madrid using the Casagrande and HRB classifications as well as an original method by the author, Roman. Swelling data and plasticity values are also included. A simple procedure for estimating Proctor and CBR data for any type of soil, according to the identification data, is described as an application of the study. In order to check the validity of the results obtained, 260 samples not included in the statistical study were used. They show the probable interval for Proctor density is 90%, and 95% for Proctor moisture, while the CBR estimate is the least accurate. (TRRL)
