FINITE-ELEMENT CALCULATION OF PRESTRESSED CONCRETE STRUCTURES

CALCUL PAR ELEMENTS FINIS DES OUVRAGES EN BETON PRECONTRAINT

The purpose of this article is to look into the effects of prestressing in the design of civil engineering structures. The merit of the method presented is the independence of the grid in relation to the cable layout. The problem is dealt with in three stages: The purpose of the first is to show schematically the stresses generated by the prestressing cables in the form of point forces characterized by their components and the coordinates of their application point. These point forces are calculated taking into account the cable tension losses. In the second phase, these point forces are transformed into forces applied to the nodes of a finite-element grid obtained independently of the cable layout. For each point generated during the first stage, a search is made for the elements of the grid to which this point belongs, the local coordinates of this point in the considered element and the equivalent nodal forces. The search for the results in displacement and stresses constitutes the third stage of the processing and is carried out by means of the Rosalie program.
