SPEECH OUTPUT SYSTEM FOR MAN/PROCESS COMPUTER DIALOG IN RAILWAY OPERATION
SPRACHAUSGABE FUER DEN DIALOG MENSCH-PROZESSRECHNER IM EISENBAHNBETRIEB
The German Federal Railway (DB) will use process control computers with a large periphery to an increasing extent for operational management. In many cases it is necessary to hold a dialog between the operating staff in passenger stations and marshalling yards and the process computer in the Operation Control Centre. To achieve this, the staff can transmit requests in digital form with a keyboard or a dial to the process computer. For information from the process computer to the staff and passengers, Siemens has developed a speech output system. Principle, function, and method of operation are dealt with by the authors.
