THE ARM-MODEL, AN AID IN GENERATING AND SELECTING HIGHWAY LOCATIONS

HET ARM-MODEL, EEN HULPMIDDEL BIJ HET ONTWIKKELEN VAN TRACEVARIANTEN

This paper deals with a model which can be used for the generation and selection of highway locations. The ARM-model is a combination of a multicriteria evaluation technique and a shortest route algorithm. The study area (the area where the highway is planned) will be subdivided into squares based upon which a network can be set up. The link costs are equal to the loss of quality of the area, due to the planned construction of the highway. The application of the model was tested by using a case-study, viz De Verlengde Poot van Metz. (Author/TRRL)
