PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE WITH A TRAFFIC AND TRANSPORTATION MODEL

TOEPASSING VAN EEN VERKEERSMODEL

In the Netherlands recently a study has been made for the municipality of Huizen. This study involves the traffic loads on main and district roads in the future during evening rush hour. From this study the separate influence of possible dual carriageways and/or a possible further extension of the city on traffic volume and traffic level of service must be clear. Because of the existence of a limited amount of data a model has been made with the aid of the computer program FASCAL which was developed specifically for the purpose. This program finds the missing cells from an only partially filled origin destination matrix. After verifying the model results with the present data a prognosis model has been developed. The traffic loads have been calculated for six different variants. An analysis method has been pursued, with which the consequences of each measure mentioned above for the traffic volume and level of service easily could be determined. (TRRL)
