MEANS ALLOWING REDUCTION OF POLLUTION CAUSED BY RUNOFF WATER IN COMBINED AND SEPARATE DRAINS. A BIBLIOGRAPHY

MOYENS D'ACTION POUR LIMITER LA POLLUTION DUE AUX EAUX DE RUISSELLEMENT EN SYSTEME SEPARATIF ET UNITAIRE. SYNTHESE BIBLIOGRAPHIQUE

The first section is an examination of the characteristics of the water to be eliminated and/or treated: runoff water alone in the case of separate drains; a mixture of waste and runoff water in that of combined sewer networks. The means used for dealing with them, or in the research stage, are then presented by place of use and type of drainage network: upstream of the network, to reduce the accumulation of pollutants that might be carried along by runoff water, to limit the introduction of these pollutants into the networks, or again to limit the peak flows and/or volume of runoff water. In and downstream of separate networks, improvement of the functioning of the networks, special treatment, and storage of the runoff water. In and downstream of combined networks, improvement of the functioning of overflow spillways, storage before treatment at a treatment plant, automatic management of the networks, treatment of stream overflows only.
