FULL SCALE MEASUREMENT OF THE TRANSVERSE STRENGTH OF A LARGE BULK CARRIER
This article describes a method of calculation of the transverse strength of large bulk carriers. The article describes the method and results of an actual ship test and, at the same time, describes the results as a comparison between the values obtained by this new calculation method and actual values measured on board a 120,000 dwt bulk carrier. It is concluded that even for complicated hull structures and constructions such as bulk carriers, strength calculations with full accuracy for practical usages can be made.
