BOTTLENECKS IN RECREATIONAL TRAFFIC

KNELPUNTEN IN HET REKREATIEVERKEER

At the Delft University of Technology a student course was given on recreational traffic. Land use and recreation, bottlenecks on the North Sea Islands, bottlenecks in the recreational traffic in the western part of Holland with the greatest density of population and the greatest urbanization and recreational traffic in general are considered. A mathematical distribution model has been developed to make a prognosis of the number of tourists which will visit existing recreational areas. Criteria for the recreational use of amenities are given. (TRRL)
