TRICOPT. THE EFFECT OF REGULAR PERFORMANCE ON THE NUMBER OF PASSENGERS IN COLLECTIVE PUBLIC TRANSPORT

TRICOPT. HET EFFEKT VAN REGELMAATSBEVORDERING OP DE VOERTUIGBEZETTING IN HET KOLLEKTIEF OPENBAAR VERVOER

The level of service to the public and efficient management in urban collective public transport is adversely influenced by an irregular distribution of the number of passengers in the vehicles. This Tricopt study determines the way in which fluctuations in the passenger supply and irregularity in the timetable affects this problem. Irregularity has a large effect on the fluctuations of the number of passengers. A timetable with a percentile irregularity of 50% needs 75% more vehicles than a regular service to satisfy to the same service norm of 85%.
