AIR POLLUTION IN URBAN AREAS

LUFTFOERORENINGAR I TAETORTSMILJOE

The repoort discusses the level of knowledge concerning: sources of emission, estimation of exposure, sampling, chemical analysis, reactions in the atmosphere and health effects of air pollution in urban areas. Research results from the different groups involved in the project are presented: (1) sampling of recipient air and automobile exhausts, (2) chemical analysis and fractionation (particles and gas phase), (3) mutagenic effects in collected samples, (4) estimation of genetic risks, (5) genetic effects on human cells, (6) effects on liver metabolism, (7) uptake of and effects on lung tissue, (8) effects on lung cells and lung tissue.
