INVESTIGATIONS ON THE FORM STABILITY OF RAILS AND CONCLUSIONS FOR THE PRACTICE

UNTERSUCHUNG ZUR GESTALTFESTIGKEIT DER SCHIENEN UND FOLGERUNGEN FUR DIE PRAXIS

Investigations were made into the effects of tensile strength and steel qualities on the form stability of rails when subjected to flexural or bending stress, also the part played by the condition of the rail surface. The results showed that there was a danger of fatigue with the S 49 rail on main lines, with the result that the UIC 60 was recommended.
