INTRODUCTION TO THE MARINE TRANSPORTATION OF BULK LNG AND THE DESIGN OF LNG CARRIERS
Construction and design problems for propulsion, hull and cryogenic sections, due to the low density and flammability of LNG, are discussed. Selection of insulating materials, due to high boil-off rates, is critical. These include polyurethane foam, fibrous glass, mineral wool and silicon-coated perlite granules or powder.
