NEW WELDING DEVELOPMENTS AND THEIR USE IN SHIPBUILDING

The purpose of this paper is to review new welding processes, to describe them in detail and to point out their advantages and disadvantages. The processes covered, include: Shielded Metal-arc welding (new electrodes and developments); Submerged arc welding (including Mutli-wire and one-side welding); Gas metal-arc welding (CO2, MIG, Micro-wire); Flux cored arc welding (gas shielded and gasless); Electroslag and electogas welding (including consumable guide welding); Other welding processes (including TIG, plasma, stud, etc.).
