CONVERTED SHIP WILL INSTALL MOORING UNITS

A vessel converted by Single Point Mooring Inc. and refitted mainly for the purpose of installing single-point mooring systems was launched at IHC Holland's Schiedam yards and is named "Installer I". The ship can be used for other types of work involving heavy loads that are carried on deck for launching at sea. The vessel's equipment includes a 50 ton fully slewing crane, a heavy-duty anchoring system, sophisticated positioning equipment, underwater hammers for pile-driving, rock-drilling equipment, and comperhensive diving gear. The vessel has a flat-top deckable to carry two of the largest buoys that can be placed offshore without outside assistance, by means of a patented launching system. The first job for which the ship was hired was to install a buoy for Conoco Ltd. in the Humber River (U.K. east coast) enabling tankers to moor and to offload crude for the company's Immingham refinery.
