REHABILITATION OF A SECTION OF JAM-WARORA-CHANDRAPUR ROAD, STATE HIGHWAY NO. 84 IN CHANDRAPUR DISTRICT

The Jam-Warora-Chandrapur-Rajura-Asifabad Road is a state highway running through the Chandrapur District of the Maharashtra State into Andhra Pradesh. The road section in the Chandrapur District has been constructed along a cart track during the years from 1936 to 1940. Traffic intensity on this strech of road has increased extremely quickly from 304 tons in 1966 to 10508 tons in 1981. The height of the embankment is not sufficient and there is no proper drainage. The road runs mostly through black cotton soil. All these factors led to serious failure. Remedial operations were carried out which consisted mainly in improving drainage conditions and providing additional thickness to the pavement. (TRRL)
