MAINTENANCE PROBLEMS IN HIGH RAINFALL AREAS
The author outlines the causes of the structural failures of pavements: effect of moving loads, stripping of surface course materials, and changes in the subgrade. The components of the drainage system are described together with the maintenance stages of the system: road surface maintenance, maintenance of approach drains and side drains, and maintenance operations.
