FIRST BOW-LOADING TANKERS LEASED BY PHILLIPS PETROLEUM
Phillips Petroleum Co., acting as operator for a four-company group, has leased two of these tankers for three years to carry crude produced at the Ekofish field in the North Sea. Modifications for bow loading from a single-point mooring buoy will be made because of weather conditions in the area. The tankers will be available when production from a temporary platform, now being installed at Ekofisk, begins in a few months. A permanent producing platform at the same site is scheduled to replace the temporary platform in 1972.
