ORGANISATION AND SAFETY ASPECTS OF MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS AT DISTRICT LEVEL

The paper describes the cost-effective techniques that have been developed in order to maintain flexible pavements within a district in Rajasthan. To ensure uniformity of practice throughout the state a manual of instructions known as the `pink book' has been produced. A description is given in the paper of detailed planning, design, construction and safety aspects to be considered during maintenance operations. (TRRL)
