LOUISIANA OIL SUPERPORT--A STEP NEARER

Option on a 1450 acre swamp tract for an onshore terminal has been granted to Loop Inc. by the city of New Orleans and Louisiana Land & Exploration Co. The present choice for the offshore site of a single-point mooring (SPM) facility is in Grand Isle Block 46, near Bay Marchand. According to W. B. Read NMarathon Oil Co.), the president of Loop, the project should be completed in 1976. The facility would be at least 1-1.5 million bbl/day in capacity and would include at least two SPM's connected to a single pipeline ashore. Three SPM's with two lines running ashore would also be feasible. The onshore terminal would be connected with the SPM facilities via one or more 48 in. dia pipelines and with the Capline terminal at Saint James, La., via a 42-54 in. dia line.
