AN S.B.M. OFF FRONTIGNAN

An S.B.M. (Single-Buoy Mooring) off Frontignan in 30 m of water will weigh 170 tons and have a diameter of 16 m, a floating 200-300 m flexible line for coupling to the tanker (270,000 dwt), and a 44 in. dia, 7250 m long sea-line running to the storage tanks of the Mobil Oil Francaise S.A. refinery. The project, which will permit crude oil discharge at 10-000 cu m/hr, will be completed by the end of 1973 at a cost of 40 million francs.
