THE DAIHATSU `CHARADE' ELECTRIC VEHICLE

The Daihatsu Charade' electric vehicle (ev) is a two-seater compact sedan developed on the basis of the petrol-driven model of the same name. The original Charade' has a unique water-cooled three-cylinder, four-cycle engine mounted on a lightweight body of compact hatchback configuration, and achieves high performance and low fuel consumption. This paper first introduces briefly the design of this basic car, and then describes the structure of the Charade' ev, with particular reference to the battery, motor and controller, which are the fundamental components of an electric vehicle.
