FLANGE REPAIR TOOL FOR ARABIAN GULF
Hydrotech Services Inc. has designed and manufactured a 14,000 lb pipeline-flange repair tool which has been used to solve problems resulting from the rupture of an underwater 48 in. pipeline. The unit completely encapsulated the flanges and cracked area, eliminating the possibility of a leak when the line was returned to serve. Special gripping slips were set hydraulically after the hinged tool was placed around the flanges and bolted together, thus minimizing the danger of further cracking of the pipe. The tool is designed to grip and seal off the damaged area even if the pipe ruptures completely.
