FEASIBILITY AND DESIGN OF SOLIDS PIPE LINES

Experimental data obtained in a 4 in. dia slurry line at Montana State University on slurries of wood chips in water are related via a correlation model to data for coal slurries obtained at Williams Brothers Fluid Dynamics Research Center in 2 in. and 4 in. pipelines. Auxiliary equipment for slurry transport, corrosion and erosion effects, and comparative costs of solids pipelines vs other transportation systems are discussed.
