IMPROVEMENTS TO THE MERCURY-SEAL PISTON FLOWMETER
Improvements to the mercury-seal piston flowmeter were made to reduce and even out the back-pressure from the meter, to permit continuous flow measurement, and to provide a simple and easily adjusted electronic timing system. The modified meter gives errors of only plus/minus 0.16% for single measurements and of plus/minus 0.6% for continuous measurements and can measure flow rates of 4-300 1./hr. It will handle a wide variety of gases, which need not be saturated prior to measuring. The pressure drop across the flowmeter is insignificant.
