HOW TO CONDUCT WINTER HYDROSTATIC PIPE TESTS, RESEARCH BY ALBERTA GAS TRUNK LINE CO. LTD. SHOWS THAT

Research by Alberta Gas Trunk Line Co. Ltd. shows that continuous hot water circulation until the discharge temperature reaches 36 F is usually satisfactory for avoiding freeze-ups; however, sufficient circulation time must be allowed for ground temperatures to stabilize and establish a "heat sink" sufficient to prevent freezing during a 24 hr hydrostatic test period.
