TENNESSEE GAS PIPELINE CO. INSTALLS A MAJOR UNDERWATER PIPELINE

Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co. installs a major underwater pipeline, connecting reserves in offshore Louisians's Vermillion, South Marsh Island, Eugene Island, and Ship Shoal areas with the main line system at Cocodrie station in Terrebonne Parish. The 132 mile pipeline, containing both 26 in. and 30 in. pipe, was constructed by Brown & Root, Inc. using the combination derrick and lay barge "L.B. Meaders". Various aspects of the project are discussed including a sea bottom survey carried out by oceanonics, Inc., pipe coating performed by H.C. Price Co., the equipment on the "L.B. Meaders", and the organization and prosecution of the pipelaying operation.
