SIX NEW IDEAS IN SUBSEA EQUIPMENT

Six new ideas in subsea equipment are described including (1) the Cammell Laird Sea-Bed Vehicle, a tractor-habitat concept to crawl along the ocean floor, (2) the Bias-Cut HydroCouple from HydroTech Services, Houston, for difficult out-of-alignment connections in deep water, (3) the Wilson Marine Systems' crawler diving bell for pre-surveying, pipeline inspection, and trenching in depths to 600 ft, (4) the Shellfish (Shell Development Co.) marine pipeline locator, (5) a recently patented method (Esso Production Research Corp.) for vertical subsea pipelaying at depths below 1000 ft, and (6) Brown & Root's three-main submarine for a 1200 ft operating depth.
