CONCRETE REPAIR: THE ROLE OF RESIN COMPOSITIONS

In certain cases the repair of cracks in concrete can be carried out effectively with a cementitious mortar or concrete which matches the properties of the sound concrete. In many cases however, where cementitious repairs may not prove satisfactory, resin compositions can be used to overcome repair problems. The article reviews typical faults encountered in concrete due to cracking or poorly consolidated concrete, and briefly details repair methods using epoxy resin compositions. Repair techniques described, which use resin-based compositions, cover crack injection, add-on reinforcement, add-on concrete, and as an internal barrier when repairing chloride contaminated concrete.
