The final part of a state-of-the-art survey covers corrosion in sea-water; corrosion tests under way by Shell Pipe Line Corp. in the various corrosion zones (above the sea, splash zone, tidal zone, shallow sea, deep sea, and ocean bottom sediment); corrosion control with coatings and with cathodic protection using sacrificial anodes or impressed current; and repair techniques to cope with varying severity of damage and depth of water.
