SHELL PLANS BIG 700 MILE $60 MILLION SULFUR LINE

Commercial Solids Pipe Line Co. will apply to the Canadian Transport Commission to build the line from Calgary to Vancouver. About 1,500,000 tons per year of sulfur particles will be carried in about 30,000 bbl/day of crude oil or other liquid hydrocarbons to reduce transportation costs by about a third. Operation will begin by the end of 1970 and be increased to 2,000 tons/yr after 1972. It would be the first commercial solid pipeline in Canada.
