BALLAST

KAMENIVO KOLEJOVEHO LOZE

This is a thorough study of the problems connected with ballast. The properties of gravel and ballast criteria are examined. Grading curve, maximum and minimum cross sections, development of the so-called "harmonic" grading curve, importance of screened ballast, examination of ballast, results of studies carried out over sections of the track are discussed. Finally, a description of ballast and gravel cleaning after track relaying is given.
