TRANSVERSE WAVE LOADS ON A SHIP IN WAVES
This report deals with the hydrodynamic pressures acting on the ship hull in waves from the viewpoint of transverse strength of ships. Measurements of the hydrodynamic pressure on the midship and fore body of T2 tanker model are made in regular head waves. Results of the measurements are compared with calculations which are carried out by using Tasai's method based on the strip theory. The joint probability distribution of the hydrodynamic pressures on the side and on the bottom of ships in irregular waves is discussed as the first step to obtain standard loads for transverse strength calculation.
