DEVELOPMENTS IN NAVAL PROPULSION: THE ENGINEER'S ROLE
This lecture discusses the current trends in the design of naval propulsion machinery and makes reference to a number of recent requirements including standardization, configuration control, and identicality. Problems associated with the building of warships are discussed ranging through financial aspects, usage of skilled manpower, management systems, and engineering problems. The need for further progress in the development of propulsion machinery is emphasized.
