Performance Evaluation of Isogeometric Analysis in Structural Bending and Buckling Deformations

The authors evaluate performance of Isogeometric analysis (IGA) for bending and buckling deformation of structural members. In automobile crash analysis, ensuring the accuracy of the acceleration, velocity and load in time series as well as the deformation behavior is important. For the above this consistency, accurate reproducing the bending and buckling of structural members are indispensable. In this study, the authors compute bending and buckling of structural members with IGA and validate its performance by comparing the results with conventional finite element analysis and experiments. In addition, they apply IGA to crash analysis of a car body.
