SIMPLIFIED MODAL SPLIT MODELLING
The type of modal split model used in large scale land use/transportation studies is expensive in its requirements, both for data and for computing facilities. For the appraisal of highway schemes, the resources to implement a model on a similar scale would rarely be justified, and a much simpler approach is needed. This paper describes the development of such a model and its application. Studies are being conducted on a sample of schemes to test the validity of the model and to investigate the resource requirements and practical problems associated with the use of such a model.
