GAS TURBINE PERFORMANCE UNDER VARYING TORQUE PROPELLER LOADS
Varying torque propeller loads likely to be encountered in a main propulsion system of a ship in a seaway were simulated as loads on a propulsion gas turbine engine with a constant gas generator speed governed system. The effect on the engine torque and other engine parameters of variations in load magnitude, period of load oscillation, drive train inertia, and engine operating point was investigated and equations of load oscillation, drive train inertia, and engine operating point was investigated and equations derived relating these variables.
