Development of Performance Specifications for Cementitious Spray Applied Pipe Linings for Culvert Renewals
Spray applied pipe liner (SAPL) is used by Departments of Transportation (DOTs) as a trenchless technology methodology for renewal of deteriorated gravity storm conduits and culverts. Currently, there are no standard guidelines for SAPL installations, quality control, and quality assurance. The SAPL material is generally fall into two categories of polymeric and cementitious material. The polymeric SAPL mainly includes polyurea, polyurethane, and epoxy. The cementitious SAPL includes ordinary portland cement and geopolymer mortar. This paper presents a construction specification guideline including pre- and postinstallation requirements for cementitious SAPLs in large diameter culvert applications. The guidelines are prepared based on field inspections and laboratory testing.
