CONTINUOUS AUTOMATIC TRAIN CONTROL ON MUNICH S-BAHN

The German Federal Railway has already introduced continuous ATC on some of its main lines, but the greater traffic density on its Munich S-bahn network has justified the cost of a more sophisticated version known as LZB 110, which comes into limited operation mext month. Dipl.-lng. E. J. Kohler of Siemens describes how this system will ultimately replace colourlight signalling, which would remain in a standby capacity.
